SnapNotes Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 4, 2026

SnapNotes is a piano-learning app that turns sheet music into falling notes you can play along with. This policy explains what data the app handles and where it goes. The short version: your music stays on your device, scanned images are processed and deleted, and we don’t track you.

What stays on your device

Everything you create or import lives only on your device:

We have no user accounts and no copy of your library on our servers. If you turn on iCloud backup (Settings → Backup), the app saves your library and practice history to your own iCloud storage — that copy belongs to your Apple account, is governed by Apple’s iCloud terms, and never passes through us. If you delete the app without a backup, this data is deleted with it.

What happens when you scan sheet music

When you scan sheet music, the photo or PDF page you selected is sent over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) to our recognition server, which converts the image into notes and returns them to your device.

A few anonymous tallies

So we can tell whether features actually work, the app reports a small set of anonymous counters to our server — bare event names such as “a scan succeeded” or “the app was opened”, each simply incrementing a number. These contain no identifiers of any kind: nothing about you, your device, or your music, no timestamps tied to you, and nothing that links one event to another. The result is a total like “scans succeeded 214 times this month” — it cannot be used to reconstruct any individual’s activity.

Photos and camera

SnapNotes accesses your camera or photo library only when you choose to scan, and only the image you take or select. It never scans your photo library in the background.

Bluetooth

If you connect a MIDI keyboard over Bluetooth, the connection is used solely to receive the notes you play. Nothing about your Bluetooth devices is collected or transmitted.

Subscriptions and payments

SnapNotes Pro subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through your Apple ID. We never see or store your payment details. Manage or cancel anytime in your Apple ID subscription settings.

What we don’t do

Children

SnapNotes does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. There are no accounts and no data collection linked to identity.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
